20 THEWEDDINGPLANNERMAG.COM PLAN YOUR WEDDING Your Venue Location Is Everything C hoosing the venue is paramount. This choice dictates so much else in the planning process including food, decor, rentals, and even your dress. Once the venue is selected, everything else will smoothly fall into place. Ideally, visit potential venues in person. Websites will show the best images, but to get a true sense of a venue a tour is neces- sary. Try to imagine your guests parking, walking in, and moving about. Does it have a nice, easy flow? Ask what is included. Some venues will appear more expensive than others but if they include items that would otherwise need to be rented, they may be more economical in the long run. Ask to see the chairs, tables, and linens that are included. If you are not crazy about them, you'll want to factor in the cost of renting these items. Ask to be quoted all charges up front. Get it in Writing! Always make sure everything discussed and promised to you is provided in writing. Assume nothing; always ask about anything that you may question or do not understand. Most importantly, the venue should feel right to you. Follow your instincts; if you have any doubts, keep shopping. The perfect venue will present itself, and when that time comes, with the perfect date available, you will have accomplished the first and foremost part of planning your wedding. That is some- thing to celebrate! Autumn Harrison Photography
