Entertainment: Choices Abound By Courtney Pollard, Stage Right Lighting By Roger Cruz & Pari Smith Astro Entertainment W hen it comes to planning your big day, there is much to consider for the entertainment portion. Starting with ceremony....this is often over- looked and much needed. Not just music, but the quality of the sound system can make or break the tone you're looking for. You want to make sure your guests can actually hear what is being said in the ceremony. Having a lapel mic for the officiant is key so you don't have a mic stand at the altar that will be prominent in all of your photos. For your reception, make sure whatever en- tertainment you choose (whether live music or a DJ) is licensed and insured. Most venues will require that. Also make sure the DJ or band leader is an actual wedding MC, who knows how and when to make announcements and keep your evening flowing smoothly. There is a huge quality difference in having a friend with an iPod and a professional entertainer who can lead on the mic.
