Lasting change of this magnitude must happen organically as a result of a change in philosophy over time rather than as a result of an administrative mandate. For this reason, we write this article to share our personal journeys as administrator and teacher and to encourage schools and school divisions to begin making plans for how they will embark on Assessment Journeys. 2016 Vol. 13 Virginia Educational Leadership vascd.org 61
