e Evolution of Mathematics K-20: Integration by Design for Workforce Readiness Successful achievement in mathematics as an indicator of academic achievement through high school and college are well-documented. To ensure that all students have the opportunity to successfully navigate the K-12 and post- secondary mathematics curriculum, rethinking the alignment of the system is pivotal. The mathematics continuum has been closely examined over the past decade. There is a need to integrate the curriculum, instruction, and assessment between K-12 and higher education to provide a smooth transition for students that supports their learning. The author recommends solutions and action steps for how to better support and articulate a program of studies for students entering the community college system in remedial classes, so as not to delay their progress in earning a degree.
