THEWEDDINGPLANNERMAG.COM 57 The Style An important question you will need to spend much time pondering as you plan your wedding is "what is my personal style?" The traditional strapless white ball gown is elegant and timeless, but it might not best reflect you. Shrug off the "conventional" approach to wedding fashion and decide what kind of gown, accessories, beauty treatments and final touches are most like you. Wedding gowns come in dozens of styles, shapes, sizes, and even colors! Consult with a trusted professional bridal salon when you start to shop for "the dress." Bring photos of your favorite gown to give the consultant direction, and take only one confidante with you to your appointment to reduce stressful tension between too many "helpful" parties. Keep an open mind when your consultant suggests different gowns. Most brides do not ultimately select their first choice. The perfect dress tends to choose the wearer, not the other way around! Once you have your gown, you can move on to other beauty items, including purchasing any necessary accessories and finding the perfect shoes. Locating a hair and makeup stylist who can interpret your person- al beauty visions with artistry and expertise is important, and can take time, so don't leave this until the last week. Most will allow you to sched- ule, and pay for, a hair and makeup run-through, and this "rehearsal" of sorts is highly, highly recommended. We can't neglect the gentlemen, of course! Tuxedos are still the most popular menswear for wedding ceremonies. However, we do see casual suits in place of tuxedos especially at less formal or outdoor weddings. No matter what you choose for your personal wedding style, make sure it is reflective of you and your unique nature. If you do, your inner beauty will most certainly shine through. 3 Cats Photo Don Mears Photography Meredith Sledge Photography PLAN YOUR WEDDING
