42 THEWEDDINGPLANNERMAG.COM Capturing the Day Don Mears Photography Meredith Sledge Photography You know how much time and effort you've devoted to planning the perfect day, com- plete with all of the beautiful touches that your impec- cable taste could allow. Do not neglect one of the most important elements that will allow you to enjoy your hard work for a lifetime. It is time to immerse your- selves in the careful selection of a photographer and cinematographer. The single most important key to choosing these ser- vices is to select credible, experienced professionals. While you may wish to start with online reviews and a glance through electronic portfolios, there are other qualifications you should seek as well. Ask pertinent questions: • What kind of equipment do you use? • How many times have you worked at my venue? • Do you work alone or with assistant photographers? • How many hours will you be on site, and approxi- mately how many images do you deliver? • Are you a member of any professional photography organizations? These are just some of the inquiries you can make to determine exactly how experienced and professional your prospective photographer and cinematographer are. Each should be able to provide you with references and you are highly encouraged to follow up and be dil- igent about screening for the qualities you value most. Read your contract carefully and be up ont about any concerns you may have about the experience. Also, it is extra helpful to select a photographer and cinematographer who are able to work well together. A great match will make for an easier, more relaxed experience for you and your bridal party on the wedding day. Wedding photography and cinematography are in- vestments, but when you choose wisely, they provide a lifetime of gorgeous, amazing memories of your perfect day for you to share with iends and generations to come.
