Tip! Your planner will also help you plan for those unexpected expenses, such as gratuity, taxes, etc. Melissa Perella Photography Jessica Patton Photography C ongratulations! The days ahead will be filled with much excitement and joy as you begin planning your wedding day. Enjoy this time with fiancé, your family, and your friends. As a couple, this is your day; it is important that it remain your day, and that you add your own flair to your wedding celebration. There are many decisions to be made, some of which can seem overwhelming. Hiring a professional wedding planner is an excellent way to ensure that you not only cover all of your bases with the least amount of stress possible, but that your personal touches shine through. When trying to stretch their budgets, some brides neglect to partner with a professional planner, thinking this to be an easy expense to eliminate. Take my advice: It's not! A planner will not only ease your stress while guiding you as you make important decisions, he or she will manage your vendors up to and on your big day, as well as the small details that will undoubtedly pop up along the way. This will ensure that you, your fiancé, and your family will get to enjoy every moment of this special time. If you decide to explore the option of teaming with a planner, do your research. Seek out recom- mendations. Check references. Set up face-to-face interviews with several planners. Even if you are blown away by the first planner with whom you meet, don't make an immediate hire. Meet with each person on on your list. Remember, you will be talking with and spending a lot of time with this person; find the person who fits your person- ality and with whom you mesh well. After all, it's not just anyone to whom you want to entrust your day to make it all that you have dreamed it will be. With or without a wedding planner, The Wed- ding Planner magazine is an excellent resource to assist you in dreaming about and planning for your wedding. It is my hope that you not only find inspiration in these pages, but answers to many of your questions. Let the journey begin!
