Dr. Timothy Eagen is the proud Superintendent of Schools in the Kings Park CSD, currently President of NYASCD, a Past President of LIASCD, and Co- Chair of Steering Committee for e Long Island Regional Advisory Council on Higher Education (LIRACHE). Overview & Mission Statement In January 2001, under the auspices of the Long Island Regional Advisory Council for Higher Education (LIRACHE) and the Long Island Works Coalition, a group of Long Island college presidents and school district superintendents met to address issues related to the difficulties they encountered in attracting a top-quality workforce. ey determined that they faced the same challenges to recruitment (e.g., a shrinking labor pool, an inadequately skilled work force, high housing costs, inadequate public transportation, congested roadways, and changing regional demographics). ey also determined that by working together, higher education and Pre K-12 institutions could help to create an environment that would attract a first-class workforce to Long Island, develop the competencies of current and future teachers, and provide outstanding learning experiences for our students. LIRACHE (https://lirache.org/)--a consortium of 15 college and universities dedicated to improved educational effectiveness through inter-institutional cooperation-- collectively represents more than 33,000 employees, 174,000 students and annual operating budgets near $5 billion (LIRACHE Report, 2018).
