55 REGISTRATION Participants should register online at GCRTC's Frontline page: http://bit.ly/14SWmJ9. Registration is on a first come, first served basis for GCRTC constituents. If space is available after all GCRTC constituents are served, other educators are welcome to attend. As a professional courtesy, if you are unable to attend an event for which you have registered, please "drop" the course in Frontline as soon as possible. This will allow another educator on the waitlist to participate. PARTICIPATION DOCUMENTATION Many school districts require that prior approval for salary credit be obtained as per the local collective bargaining agreement. Please verify requirements with your own school system or local teacher union. Graduate credit is awarded by GCRTC's higher education partners. For in-service activities, certificates will be provided in accordance with Continuing Teacher and Leader Education requirements. INCLEMENT WEATHER & EMERGENCIES Safety is our top priority. If the school or institution hosting a GCRTC activity closes due to inclement weather or emergency, the activity will be rescheduled. Please check online school closings for the most current delay and cancelation information. There are four phases in the NYS Next Generation Learning Standards implementation timeline: • Phase I Raise Awareness (Winter 2018-Winter/Spring 2019) • Phase II Build Capacity (Spring 2019-Summer 2020) • Phase III Full Implementation (September 2020 – ongoing) • Spring 2021 New grade 3-8 tests measuring the NYS Next Generation Learning Standards. While there are pockets of great work being done around NYS, not everyone is fully aware of the changes to come. We are in Phase I of the implementation timeline through March of 2018. Please consider utilizing the Next Generation Standards Supporting All Students Conferences Professional Development Toolkits with your colleagues during faculty or department or PLC meetings to build your collective awareness. "These Professional Development Turnkey Toolkits provide prepackaged instructional steps and guidelines so educators and administrators may facilitate training on various aspects of the Next Generation Learning Standards within their own professional communities."
