16 A School Shooting: e Mental Health Complexities Before and Aer a Tragedy. Mike Bennett My name is Mike Bennett. I am a Teacher, to be more specific, a High School Special Education Teacher. I am a Middle School Special Education Teacher. I am a High School Challenge Teacher. I am a High School Assistant Principal. I am a Middle School Principal. I am a Director of Special Education. I am a Director of Curriculum. I am an Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services and Curriculum. I am an Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services, Human Resources and Health and Safety. I am a Husband. I am a Dad. I am a Survivor. I am all of these because once you hold any of these positions, the experience never goes away. You take each experience into your new role. My official title now is Assistant Superintendent of School Administration. I work for the Schodack Central School District. It is important that you know that these roles have shaped me and my point of view. ere is one more thing you should know about me. Mike Bennett currently serves as Assistant Superintendent for School Administration at the Schodack Central School District in Upstate NY, which includes serving as Director of Curriculum and Pupil Personnel Services. He started his career as a special education teacher in East Greenbush, NY then transitioned to Assistant Principal before moving to the Schodack school district. Most recently he was a panel member for the Albany County Mental Health Task Force.
