SPECIAL EDUCATION CERTIFICATION EXTENSION SERIES GCRTC is proud to announce the first Special Education Certification Extension CTLE course series for elementary special educators wishing to extend their NYS Certification to grades 7-8. The series starts this fall and all required courses may be completed by April 2, 2019. Designed to address the shortage of certified special education teachers in NYS, the NYS Teacher Center Network worked with the NYSED Department of Higher Education and Department of Special Education to ensure all courses satisfy the CTLE requirements for special education certification extension using targeted special education coursework. This fall, GCRTC is launching the 7-8 extension course series, fully underwritten by GCRTC. Please see the special education section of this catalog for details and to register. Please email GCRTC Teacher Leadership Coach for Special Education, Liz Daley at liz@teachers-center.org if you are interested in GCRTC offering the existing early childhood CTLE extension course series, or the 10-12 extension series currently under development.
